Willard Airport has entered into contract with engineering firm Crawford, Murphy, and Tilly to evaluate the pavement and put together a redevelopment plan for its main runway. Runway 14L/32R (“14 Left/32 Right”)handles the majority of commercial operations at the Airport. It’s the longest runway, equipped with precision approach capabilities for low visibility, and the runway best aligned with the typical wind conditions.
The $534,200 study includes a preliminary assessment and schematic design, environmental review, runway justification analysis, and runway safety area study. The study will evaluate reconstruction methods for the runway and will be presented to the FAA for potential federal funding for construction.
The study is expected to be completed before the end of 2026. That would put runway reconstruction on a timeline for starting in 2028, depending on federal funding.
