Locally owned Ion Grove Café opened in the gate area at Willard Airport in August. In just the last five months, it’s served more than 8,000 travelers – a huge success.
Phil Rowell, the CEO of Ion Grove, said the café is performing even better than he expected. “We are thrilled and grateful for the tremendous success that Ion Grove has achieved at Willard Airport,” Rowell said. “It truly showcases the diverse tastes and flavors of our community, ranging from locally sourced sweet treats from Flesor’s Candy, to the delectable apple butter from Curtis Apple Orchard, and delightfully buttery popcorn from CBPB.”

Tim Bannon, Executive Director of Willard Airport said, “The partnership with ION has exceeded our expectations, and we continue to work together to enhance our offerings and encourage greater utilization of the airport.”
The café will add a coffee robot in the coming months. It is also looking at expanded offerings for grab and go options to take on the plane.
Rowell said, “We are incredibly thankful for the support of our community and the opportunity to showcase local delights at Willard Airport. We encourage you to engage with us on social media and let us know what other culinary delights you would like to see passengers enjoy as they transit through Willard Airport.”
