Willard Airport is planning three major projects: The Commercial Airline Terminal Rehabilitation Project, which replaces two roof sections, two escalators, two elevators, and other improvements; an apron project to repair worn-out pavement where general aviation planes are parked; and a road and parking lot project with new asphalt for both employee parking and the entrance to the parking lot.
“The Rebuild Illinois program, for the road and the apron, that state funding is so important,” Willard Executive Director Tim Bannon told WCIA-TV. “And then obviously, the Federal Aviation Administration supporting our investment program, investing back in the terminal with bipartisan infrastructure law funds is very important.”
The apron project budget is $1.5 million while the road project budget is $500,000. The budget for terminal improvements is still being refined, however is estimated to be at $6.5 million.
Construction isn’t expected impact travelers.
